Oh! Capital City

Ola… We embarked on our train journey from Amtrak Pennsylvania station in New York at 6am. The underground station early that morning was lifeless. The air is suffocating. The Calea Express waiting room is still not opened. There is no announcement, as the departure board has no info of the platform. We have 3 massive bags full of our shopping madness in New York and San Francisco. Thinking that we can check in our luggage that going to save us the hassle of getting on board the train.

We were pleased to see the baggage check in counter. There are a long queue mainly black people... I have never seen so many black people before in my life. When it was our turn to hand in our luggage, the Amtrak officer, which also a black lady told us…

“Where ya goin? Washington?? No check in for Washington… take your luggage on board”

Fuck! A simple sign would be great… so we queued up for 20mins for nothing? And now we’re stuck with these bags to carry on board?

The waiting area is now open. There is a Latina lady maybe from Mexican background waited at the counter. We asked what time does the Caleas Express to Washington is boarding. She inconspicuously told us that there will announce it via the PA. The train is very comfy, business class seats and a table in the middle. The 3 hours uneventful journey… so I managed to catch up with my blogs. The train stopped at several stations Pennsylvania, Detroit and then Washington D.C.

Everything is massive in Washington DC. Stunning train station with an amazing architecture. Very different from New York, DC is clean, planned and structured. The perfectly manicured gardens in front of most building and the gigantic government offices reminds me a lot of Malaysia’s Putrajaya. This is how Mahathir envisaged Putrajaya to look like. It took Washington more than 300 years to look like this… I think Putrajaya did a fine job to get it right.

Matt, Declan’s friend picked us up at the train station in his Audi A4. We’re very lucky to have friends in every state to entertain and take care of the two of us… except for Las Vegas. This is my 1st time meeting Matt and they have not seen each other for 10 years. Matt seems to be a friendly and an outrageously funny. The idea of going to Washington and doing the trips to museums and monuments wears off pretty quick.

After checking in at the Renaissance Hotel DC, we promised matt to catch up for dinner. It’s also happened that there is a National Equality March that weekend so the whole city is full of gays and lesbians. It’s a yearly event begin with a black tie and tuxedo dinner with President Obama and then the BIG MARCH demanding Equal Rights for gays. This year they’re fighting to stop Proposition 8 that banned same sex marriage.

Back to our trip, we met up with Matt at 630pm and went out to have martinis and tapas at a restaurant called Source, one of the famous Wolfgang Puck chain restaurateurs. We had amazing Pear martinis and Tuna Tartar that served in a cone. It’s so amazingly good.

After a few rounds of martinis, we then walked to another venue called Asian Nine for lychee martinis. Outing with Matt sure an event to be remembered. Its class and trash all in one…and hell lots of laughs. We then moved venue to a raunchier club. Somewhere in bumfucknowhere in DC industrial area. The club is massive with dimmed lights and 2 bar counter and naked boys dancing on top of the bar wearing only socks and shoes on. And they are seriously butt naked with big cock dangling. I thought my trip would not get any trashier that Folsom st… but clearly I was mistaken.

Some of the boys are still in their early 20s, with chiseled body and hot ass. There is one boy that caught my attention from far… mind you I’m not wearing my glasses at the time so most of them looked hot to me. It’s a custom to tip your strippers, and matty gave me $2 to slip the cash in the boy’s socks…as there is nowhere else to stuffed them. I walked to the boy with the black cap on, he’s still waving his massive cock in the air. As I approached him, he bends down and we said hello…

Me: I think I like what I see

Stripper: Thanks … I like you too… What’s your name?

Me : Its Jett…

Stripper: I’m. ……(I don’t remember his name)…

I slipped the tip in his sock… he gave me a peck and I let him go. There is a distinct smell of his body. Like a strong smell of cheap aftershave. We continue drinking and after a few raspberry vodkas the night goes wilder.

The club continued with Drag shows, a very lengthy one… In the beginning it’s a novelty and its slowly wears off after the 15th to the 20th show… One of the drag queen that performed Janet Jackson song looked like a prostitute rather than a drag queen. It’s so funny as if she forgot her wig and costumes. As always, the Lady Gaga personification of Paparazzi single is the best one.

After the show finally ends (seems it will never comes) we got more drunk and louder. Me and Matty moved to the dance floor to shake our booties. He’s a wild dancer, strutting his stuff like a pole dancer. Its wears off pretty quick as the music gets from bad to worst. We took a taxi back to the hotel.

Matt was really drunk and stumbles his way and we’re giggling non stop and profusely apologizing to the cab driver. When we reached Renaissiance, Matt send us to our room. He nicked the flower from the lobby and the water from the vase dripped all over the elevator. Declan kicked him out and we finally went to bed around 2 am... Drunk and disorderly. Lucky we took some neurofen 400 before bed…

I showered…as I can still smell the cheap smell from the stripper on me… Good Night Capital City!!!

PS : I saw this incident where the police officer is helping these guys changing a flat tyre near the White House.... errr... never seen this before either with our Police force in Australia or Malaysia.... I think in Malaysia you would have to move your car with or without a tyre! LOL

Step awayyyyy from the vehicle!!!!

Shopping for Labels…in USA

I maxed out my Mastercard in New York… That a statement and what really happened. You cant blame me when there are so many shops around and the labels here are very cheap compared to Australia or Malaysia.

I invested and befriended a few stores like Kenneth Cole, Marc by Marc Jacobs , Barneys, Bloomingdales, Zara, GAP, Abercrombie & Fitch and Century21… Oh la la… Century 21!

Let begin our relationship with Kenneth Cole New York. There are a lot of KC stores around. The flagship store is on Fifth Avenue… but we didn’t spend any there but at KC’s smaller store, they have 50% off the already markdown price. That’s crazy! I got a pair of leather sandals for $8, Boots for $80, 2 black tee for $50, a watch for $80…and the list goes on and on… Everytime a KC store is near, we’ll be in there to catch a bargain.

Marcs by Marcs Jacobs stores are more upmarket but with amazing price. I bought a few tees there and gifts for my friends. If you happened to get one of the keychains… its from Marc Jacobs honey! And its real…. Just be thankful I don’t give you a crappy New York keyring like all the other tourist do…

We went in Barneys of New York store in San Francisco. It’s a place where you can go crazy if you have the $$$$$. And I mean a lot of them. Its very chic and have a boutique feeling about it. Very classy and La’ Di Da….There is an Asian girl shopping in there with her dog sitting comfortably in the waiting area. Brands like Yohji Yamamoto, Comme Des Garcons, Jil Sander, Alexander McQueen and many more lives in this store. We bought ourselves a pair of Paul Smiths shoes for $300. As I know Carrie would do that…. We dare not visit the one in New York. Maybe next visit.

Bloomingdales in New York is a store like David Jones in Australia or Tangs in KL. Its huge, expensive but less personal touch and as exclusive as Barneys. As a tourist, when you visit the Tourist Service Centre, they’re giving 10% off discount that will compensate the purchase tax. Mind you this is USA. You have to add up tax with the advertised price. Not much that attract me in this store. They only have more mainstream and mature brands like Zegna, Coach, Prada, Gucci, Versace and others. I’m not that old to wear these… I was a bit disappointed until we went to the basement where the younger designers were. I spotted a Nudie Jeans and look for my size 30. Maybe cos its slim fit or my ass just got bigger due to excessive consumption of chili dog at Papaya Dog. I have to opt for 31…and they’re out of 31. I tried 32 and it fits ok. We bought them… athough it’s a bit loose… maybe I have to get a less tight jeans now.

Zara in USA is still cheaper and have bigger range than in Asia. And because they cater for Asian market, its easier for me to find my size.

I better look up all my receipt now..with panadols handy!...

Two Gay in The Big Apple

What does Manhattan reminds me of? Beautiful skyscrapers, Lush green park and efficient Subway, which Carrie Bradshaw would never be caught in it… she would rather walk, and its true. You can walk your way in Manhattan.

Any direction towards the city is called Downtown and out is call Uptown. So if you told New Yorker that you’re going to the city… they will laughed at you. “ Man! This is the city!!!” . On the 1st day, we purchased the Metro ticket that costs $27.00 for a week unlimited ride on all public transport. It’s a life saver and a must for every tourists. Unless you rather spend your shopping money on expensive taxi ride or towncars.

We did a hell lot of walking in Manhattan. Kip took us to every nook and hook of the Big Apple. Started with the preview of night walk in Central park. It is definitely an amazing experience to walk in Central park at night. Its very eerie and a bit daunting. The park is not the same as the French garden. It is kept to its natural state. Where we stayed at Upper West 78th Street, its very close to the park. At nighttime, the mist surrounded the whole park. Like a horror movie in the 80’s, I still remembered most Malaysian making silly statement about the foggy night scene before the ghost appears and now being in Central Park in the fog made me realized that its for real. Its only a few years back that its declared safe to be in Central Park of a night. Even on Manhattan streets.

After the brief stroll, we went to a Italian restaurant called Café Caffe. Dinner was nice and we spent around $50 per person. Eating out in USA especially in big cities can be costly. The price of the food is cheap but we have to add up tips to the waiter as well as they are paid poorly on basic rate and depending on how much tip they can get from their diners.

The tips is around 15– 20% off the whole bill. If you gave them less than that most of them will ask you why? Is the service is bad? And believe me… the service is rarely bad… unless you picked the wrong restaurant or a wrong day or the wrong waiter. Than you can say… Yes… Your service was atrocious…and I’m never coming back!

And I’m beginning to be fond of this big city!!

New York!! New York!!

What do I say about the Big Apple? It’s massive, crowded, and busy and never sleeps. New York is amazing! When we landed in JFK airport, Virgin America terminal, I have booked a Lincoln town car to pick us up and took us to our apartment on Upper West 78th Street. I was so excited as like most gay boys… pretending to lead the icon Carrie Bradshaw life with Mr. Big… been chauffeured around in the luxury black Lincoln.

After collecting our luggage, we can’t find the driver. I called the company and been told to look for a SUV. I was devastated and angry. Where’s my fucking Lincoln?

Me: Hi, I don’t see the limo that supposed to pick us up… This is our booking number.

Asian Guy on the Phone: Oh! Our Lincoln broke down sir. So we send you a SUV instead. We still charge you the same price for the SUV although it should really be more expensive.

Me: I don’t want a SUV. I booked for a Lincoln!

By this time it started to rain and I don’t really want to be stuck in JFK with our bags. The driver just sat inside this beat up SUV and not even acknowledging us waiting at the passenger pick up.

Driver: Hey ya’ll. I’ve been waiting for 20 mins. Don’t you know what an SUV look like?

Me: I know how a SUV look like. But I asked for a Lincoln! I don’t need a SUV…. I don’t have a whole family to ride on this damn thing!

Driving from JFK to Manhattan took more than 1 hour. The freeways and road signs reminds me of Kuala Lumpur, especially the Queens area. Very Ghetto... As we reached Manhattan, the scenery got so much better. I saw a designer labels outlets everywhere.

Karen’s apartment is a beautiful brownstone building, just like you see in Sex & the City. Quiet and beautiful street. We met Karen, the owner. She was very friendly and helpful. Our room is a beautiful and quaint. Older style and quite comfortable.

Unpacked and ready to explore New York!!!

Rest in Peace sweet Stephen

Boyzone singer Stephen Gately has been found dead at the age of 33, it was reported today.

Gately was believed to have been holidaying in Majorca when he died yesterday, according to a newspaper.

A friend of Gately's told the newspaper: "It looks like he went out for a few drinks, then got back, fell asleep and never woke up."

Boyzone manager Louis Walsh told the News of the World: "We're all absolutely devastated. I'm in complete shock. I was only with him on Monday at an awards ceremony. We don't know much about what's happened yet.

All four remaining members of Boyzone - Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch and Mikey Graham - will be flying to Palma, Majorca tomorrow."I only heard after The X Factor and we will rally around each other this week. He was a great man."

Boyzone star Shane Lynch told the News of the World: "Me and the boys are flying out in the morning. We just need to get over to where he's passed and work out what we need to do."

Ronan Keating, who is in Chicago, has been left devastated by the death of his close friend. A pal revealed to the newspaper: "Ronan is completely distraught. No-one saw this coming.

"He loved Stephen like a brother, they were so close, it's absolutely floored him.

"It's a massive shock to everyone and no one can take it in yet.

"He was a man in the prime of his life, and this is a huge tragedy."

Gay singer Gately's coming out ten years ago caused a sensation in the pop music world. He leaves a husband Andrew Cowles, who he married in a civil union in March, 2006.

Gately also became a star of theatre, TV and radio, appearing in the West End as Joseph in and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and in the ITV show Dancing on Ice.

Boyzone had 17 top five singles and four number one albums before splitting in 2000. They made a comeback tour in 2007, however their recent 19-date Better tour was deemed a flop as the band played to half-filled arenas.

A statement on Boyzone's official website confirmed the Irish singer's death.

It said: "Stephen tragically died yesterday whilst on holiday with his partner Andrew in Majorca.

"The rest of the boyz will be flying out today."

San Fran… You Are Beautiful

Folsom is over. Now back to being a tourist. What’s next to see in San Francisco? Robert and Kip took us for a drive to all the places. We went across the Golden Gate Bridge, to the other side of the city. Thanks to the boys we have seen a different side of San Francisco.

The next day we ventured SF ourselves. I have pre-purchased tickets to Alcatraz. Okay… I don’t want to write so much about the history of Alcatraz… but if you want to know… Click the link to link below.

We took some great photos on this trip and the day with Kip and Robert too.

Last night in San Francisco, Desi took me to a Latino club called the CafĂ©. I never been to a Latino club before but the music and the boys are soooo hawt!! The Go-Go boys just in their undies and have a great body…

I can see Desi drooling on the boys… and it’s hilarious. We had such a great time and he repeatedly said how sad it is that we’re leaving. I wish I can stay but I’m on holiday…. New York is our next destination.

Thanks Desmond, Kip and Robert for being a fabulous host! We love you so much!!!

Folsom Street Fair – How Far Can You Go?

For you guys who are familiar with San Francisco gay scene, you must have heard of Folsom Street Fair that normally took place in late September. It’s a Gay Leather & Fetish street fair that started in the 70s.

Folsom St originally wasn’t a gay street. It’s mainly a street with a lot of leather stores. When the gays invaded Castro, they keep on spreading to Folsom and decided to organize a yearly street fair with inhibited display of sexual acts, BDSM and fetish.

I have never seen so much nudity on the street. It’s so liberating and honest. There are porn stars booths, cubs and bears, leather queens, spanking and whipping and even naked twisters.

We went there with Desmond and some of his friends. It was Desmond’s first time to Folsom as well…. LOL. I think he’s a bit relieved after I mentioned to him that we’re not really into leather and fetish… Not that I have any issue with seeing naked people…. Hot or not…

As we entered the Folsom gate (they blocked the whole Folsom St to make sure breeders with kids cant enter)… it was full on. There is a group of guys standing naked and playing with their crotch. I saw a young and yummy boy wearing an orange tee with his huge cock hanging out. I took his picture. He smiled…

We walked to another booth where a woman got tied up and whipped. Walking past us a woman dressed as a horse and a guy riding her. It’s amazing what turns someone’s on.

Oh… I also took a photo with D.J Porn star, and suddenly he lashed his cock out. Desmond’s friend Jeff shouted and asked me to hold it… and as quick as a lightning…I grabbed it!

“Yeahh!! I grabbed DJ Pornstar’s cock!!!” I cannot believe it… lol….

I had so much to see until the Nikon SLR got tired of taking photos… it stopped working for a while. Putting the naked photos on here might be a bad idea but hell… this is my blog… if you don’t like it…. Don’t read it!

As the Mayor of San Francisco told the straight families that complaint about Folsom…

“ If you are concerned that your kids see the actions…. Then don’t go!”

After a few hours, we got a bit weary of the scene. We told Desmond that we’re leaving very soon. He wanted to wait for Brent and James. So we waited at The Raging Stallion booth where they show porn on a big screen TV. They’re also lots of porn stars signing autographs. I didn’t see Dawson… otherwise I’d spank his ass as requested by Eugene….

We then went back to Castro. Had a bottle of Pinot with the boys at Blush! And chatted for a few hours. As the time flies… we went out Downtown to an amazing Thai restaurant for dinner.

“ Yes I have washed my hand”

Desmond sent us back to Robert’s and we said goodbye….

I love San Francisco…. And maybe one day come back to Folsom again

Million $$ View of SF

Okay... Only pictures can describe this...

San Francisco - Pt 1

If only words could describe how great this city is... San Francisco truly a gay mecca. I thought Sydney is gay.....but honey! nothing compared to this city!!

This is my 1st trip to USA and its been really amazing. No wonder most of my friends who went to live here never looked back! One of them is Desmond.

Desi picked us up at SFO airport with his phancy black Mercedes. After a long and tiring trip with Qantas Premium Economy Class, and delayed with Virgin America at LAX for 1 hour we finally here.

Our 1st destination is Castro. Where gay icon Harvey Milk set up his camera store that ignites Mardi Gras. Castro is more gay compared to Sydney's Oxford St. A lot of shops and community centres owned by GLBTI people and Pride flags are everywhere. We went to this shop called Citizen Body and I bought myself a nice Gant shirt.

Then we went for a stroll down the street. Cos of Folsom St fair, there are so many rough hot men everywhere. Its like Titan Men dreamworld here. I'm enjoying my view with these hot muscly meat market. Men in leather and uniforms walked holding hands. Its fantastic.

After a few hours wondering Castro, we went back to Robert & Kip's apartment at Twin Peaks. As told by Mark how gorgeous their apartment is, I stepped in and amazed by the view! Its a billion dollar view of San Francisco. We can see the whole city from here and also the Golden Gate Bridge!!!! The boys were away in New York when we arrived but they have prepared for our arrival.

The champagne in the fridge, towel on the bed and everything to make our stay extra comfortable. What a day... and I fell in love with San Francisco at 1st sight

Not Bitter

Okay... I've deleted my entry on my interview with Telstra. Since I want this to be a public blog and accessible to my friends, its just fair to forget the past and start brand new again.

I've already said no to the role and move on with life. Thanks for the experience.

Lets celebrate life.... :)

Get Over It

I read on someone's FB page today how annoyed he is when a gay guy try to pick him up. And the abusive comments that follows to the statement rather disturbing. Mind you this coming from a Malaysian guy... Comments like "just kick his ass and bash this gayboy".... Its scary how people react and their perception of gay people. I am so grateful that i don't live in that society anymore where homosexuals are committing sins, immoral and should not be treated equally as they are condemn in hell.

Some even rather stay in the closet either too scared to be humiliated or disgraced by society. When I moved to Melbourne, although gay marriage is not legalized, there is no threat of being one. There is no media or police raiding the gay venues just because they're different. There is no articles in the newspaper condemning homosexuality and people don't treat you different from others.

Its not too bad back in Malaysia. But hearing from my best friends how the media and government trying to crack in the issue. Raiding gay venues and labelled them as immoral and disgusting, its kinda scary to go home to live. When will they learn that human rights needs to be in the forefront rather than political interest and religious view.

We're not the ones who's having mental illness here... maybe its them!

xoxo

Finding grip..

Saturday : 11:25am

I'm still finding my direction with this blog. With Facebook and now Twitter... I hardly find anything else to say. Woke up this morning early as Veuve decided to spew on the bed. Yuck! Its gross. My advice on peeps who wanted to get a puppy... its hard work. They love you unconditionally and so must you. Eason and Dennis ( our friend) decided one day to adopt 2 adorable beagles pup. They have them for 3 week and return them back to RSPCA. Poor puppies.... If only they can take care of themselves.

Declan bake some homemade cornflakes cookies. They are so delicious. I think it is better than the one Darren and Dat bought for us from Sydney... tho they are pretty fuckin good..

Hence there goes my diet. I'm stop going to gym again. This has been like this off and on for nearly a year. I just don't know now how to get back to my routines. Maybe a personal trainer will help.... but to find $$ to pay for them also an issue. I have to start paying for my new macbook too for $145 monthly for 2 years. Wish i could earn more....

Work has been hectic lately. I have been doing 9-13 hours shift more regularly than before. I went to a few interviews lately but still failed to find me something that i like. FoneZone seems to be a great company to work for... though its still retail but having my own store to manage is what i wanted. The package is far more better than what 3 offered. I'm still waiting for the area manager to call me back... I left 2 voicemails last week but he still haven't return my call. Which is a bit strange since he is the one offering me the role. I think I just have to sit tight and be patient.

Oh well... we're off to see UP in 3D this afternoon at Jam Factory... something to take our mind of work.... Cyaz...

Using Blogo....

Last time i updated my blog..i went to the interview with you know who... ( dont want to mention)... So okay... I didn't get the job. At first they liked me... then when i ask for them to match my salary.... they came back with... no. Oh well... I didn't apply for it anyway...so its not really a big fuss.

There is a few changes happened lately. I didn't get the Chapel St role that I wanted. They want me to develop my leadership skills. Thats such bullshit. I'm not gonna talk about work anymore....

Good things happened too... I bought myself a new shiny macbook pro 13inch... I loved every bit of this thing... I tried to find an application like Windows Live Writer for my blog...but failed. I found thing called Blogo and trying it for 21 days. We'll see how this goes....

My USA trip is coming really soon.... And i'm mega excited. Cannot wait to fly to USA..... Business Class.

Okay... nuff crap.... Lets see some magic!

I think Joe my new RM really disliked me… I dont know why… and Jayme promised me the world… and just left and moved on…… and I am still an assistant manager…. still doing the same thing for 3 years now.

M&M Mishap?

If ever there was an ‘epic fail’ of attempted big-time drug deals, then this is it. When 21-year old Dwayne Grant Seabourne admitted to police upon return to Tasmania last year that he’d flown back from Melbourne with $6000 worth of ecstasy in his luggage, little did he know that the Melbourne underworld had duped him with something else entirely – a shipment of 400 delicious blue M&M’s, to be precise.

m_m_blue_close-400

“He returned to Launceston with what he believed were ecstasy tablets,” Crown prosecutor Jackie Hartnett told the Burnie Supreme Court last month. “He purchased 400 tablets for $15 each…intending to sell them for $30 each.”

However, The Advocate reports that when being interviewed by police, Seabourne didn’t express the relief that you’d expect when it became clear he’d been spared a lifetime behind bars. Instead, his response was instead much closer to anger – that those wily underworld crims had done him over! “He felt someone had essentially ripped him off,” Hartnett told the court. Dastardly underworld villains that they are.

While the state has yet to pass any laws banning the trafficking of blue M&M’s (as deliciously addictive as they may be), the prosecution argued that Seabourne should be sentenced on the “basis of the evil intended, not on the basis of the evil that could have been accomplished”.

Arguing in Seabourne’s defence, counsel Katie Edwards claimed that any harm that could have come from his “particularly unsophisticated attempt” to deal drugs was effectively nil.

MiZU with mates…

After the massive housewarming party last Friday and since Dat and Darren were here for the weekend. We were expected to do “gayish” things which is going out clubbing at the meat Market hotel.

IMG_0609-1

IMG_0605-1

We decided to have earlier dinner that day at Mizu… a Japanese restaurant in Greville Street. I haven't been to Mizu before but heard good review about it. We started with sushi and sashimi platter, vegetarian california rolls and my favourite Edamame.

Dat as a restaurateur, always the one who have to place the order. Dinner as always was fantastic…and having Dat and Darren back in Melbourne again is like a reunion… They are so much fun to hang around with…. always.

After dinner, we went to Mark’s place for champagne and decided to have kate with us. When we reached Mark’s some other boys are there as well…. There’s Mark ( from sydney), Mikey and his straight friend which I didnt click what his name was… sorry!

We went to the Market at 1130…. enjoyed our night and went home at 3am…. Still thinking I’m not missing much by not being put there…..Clubbing…. IMG_0596-1

“Ciao”

The Eclipsed Celebrity Death Club

Poor Farrah Fawcett. A month ago, People magazine's Larry Hackett admitted to the Times that she only had one remaining chance for some friendly press:
"At this point, Farrah has to die," he said. "It's the only cover left for her." Needless to say, she's missed her chance. Having vanished from the headlines after Michael Jackson's sudden demise, Farrah is just the latest to join a peculiar group: the Eclipsed Celebrity Death Club.

The classic ECD example is Groucho Marx, who passed away the same week as Elvis Presley, and thus missed out on a good week's worth of TV tributes. But the easiest way for a famous person to vanish from the earth without so much as a blip is to follow a president of the United States. Ray Charles caught barely a moment's coverage when he died in 2004, right in the middle of the weeklong blanket coverage of Ronald Reagan's death and funeral. Same story for James Brown, who got some press but definitely ran second to Gerald Ford. (The only person who could square off against a dead head of state, it seems, was Mother Teresa. When she died a few days after Princess Diana, a good deal of the coverage tried to frame them as comparably angelic figures.) And don't forget Alice Trillin—granted, not a worldwide celebrity, but a beloved figure to her husband Calvin's thousands of New Yorker-reading fans. While awaiting a heart transplant, she died on September 11, 2001, following the horrible deaths of thousands of New Yorkers. Most of her husband's readers only learned about it many months later, when he published About Alice.
The championship trophy for badly timed death, though, goes to a pair of British writers. Aldous Huxley, the author of Brave New World, died the same day as C.S. Lewis, who wrote the Chronicles of Narnia series. Unfortunately for both of their legacies, that day was November 22, 1963, just as John Kennedy's motorcade passed the Texas School Book Depository. Huxley, at least, made it interesting: At his request, his wife shot him up with LSD a couple of hours before the end, and he tripped his way out of this world. Which, if you're going to go to your reward without anyone's noticing, is probably not a bad way to end it all.

Overhauled..

Sydney Revisited

The last time I’m in buzzing Sydney was late last year. Guess work has taken toll of our travelling for a bit. Plus I have been home to Malaysia twice this year.

This trip, we flew specially for Dat & Darren as they just nested themselves a new apartment in Centennial Park… very near to Oxford Street ( Sydney Gay Central ). The house is amazeballs. Its an art deco with white on white background. Very chic furniture and as always have Dat’s and Darren’s touch all over it.

Day 1, Penny collected us from Kingsford Smith Airport as we landed. Unlike Melbourne, Sydney airport were buzzing with travellers. We packed light and did not have any check in luggage….

We went to Jones the Grocer for coffee while waiting for the boys to come home. Its kinda lost its charm. The place is a bit empty considering that they normally cater for the upmarket grocers. The coffee was good. It started to rain in Sydney…. and as we reached the boys apartment, it started to rain really heavily.

After shower and change, we went to Fratelli’s Fresh where Dat works. We had a beautiful dinner and VViP treatment. It was fantastic…. We went home in a taxi….and its still pissing down raining…. decided to stay in.

DAY 2…

We left the house on a roadtrip to Bowral, to see Declan’s mum and dad. Its about an hour plus drive. When we reached Bowral, we were greeted by Ron and Beryl…. and Jack..a miniature version of Veuve. A very obedient puppydog.

Mum and Dad made BBQ lunch for us….and it hit the spot. Really yummy…. after 2 hours chatting we left Bowral back to Sydney.

That night Dat and Darren invited some of their friends out with us to ARQ…. Its a fantastic night out…. put on our disco boots and off we go painting the Sydney Gayest venue…all white.. thanks to our trustworthy friend Kate!!!

We left home the next day feeling tired from all the fun we had in Sydney. We’ll be flying there again in August…. Thank you boys for the hospitality……

Monotone

I havent been shopping for clothes for awhile now. I know… its very depressing. But I have to save for our trip to USA. Hopefully shopping there as good as what people been saying. Or else that would be a bummer.

Nothing changes since the last blog. I am still working at the same place with the same people. I dont go out clubbing anymore as I decided to hang my disco boots. I havent really been to gym as I been lazy after I cancelled my Fitness Last membership.

I was watching one of the Sex and The City episode last night, the one when Carrie moved to Paris with Alexander Petrovski. When they have lunch with Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda… the last lunch, it was really sad. I remembered when I used to stop for lunch at Dome with Rain, Eddie and Mel after shopping. It was so much fun. We were on top of the world… parading our Seed, Guess and Isetan paperbags… and wishing it was Prada, Gucci or Louis Vuitton instead…. but we still feel fabulous.

Now I can have Louis Vuitton if I want… but it doesnt feel the same. Its not fun anymore. Shopping is for necessities now.. I just bought a new black cardi from SATCH today. Its gorgeous… but when I get home…I just hanged it in the closet with the other designers shit that I have… its monotonous. And when shopping feels that way… there is definitely something wrong with you!

We went to Myer to spend our $200 voucher that I get from Nokia points. We decided to spend it on tableware. We got a set of dinner plates from Royal Doulton that cost around $175…. and some nice napkins from Vue. The clothing department at Myer really needs a revamp. It just looks sad and cheap….

Declan is busy looking for hotels for our trip in September. The Venetian in Las Vegas.. looking for a hotel in Washington D.C….. I’ve found an apartment to rent in New York thru www.airBnB.com, its someone’s apartment that they rented out to traveler in New York City. I choose to stay in Chelsea as its very camp. Lucky in San Francisco, we’re staying with Robert as he own a gorgeous apartment… plus I will be catching up with Desmond too :)

Catcha……   xoxo ………
