Two Gay in The Big Apple

What does Manhattan reminds me of? Beautiful skyscrapers, Lush green park and efficient Subway, which Carrie Bradshaw would never be caught in it… she would rather walk, and its true. You can walk your way in Manhattan.

Any direction towards the city is called Downtown and out is call Uptown. So if you told New Yorker that you’re going to the city… they will laughed at you. “ Man! This is the city!!!” . On the 1st day, we purchased the Metro ticket that costs $27.00 for a week unlimited ride on all public transport. It’s a life saver and a must for every tourists. Unless you rather spend your shopping money on expensive taxi ride or towncars.

We did a hell lot of walking in Manhattan. Kip took us to every nook and hook of the Big Apple. Started with the preview of night walk in Central park. It is definitely an amazing experience to walk in Central park at night. Its very eerie and a bit daunting. The park is not the same as the French garden. It is kept to its natural state. Where we stayed at Upper West 78th Street, its very close to the park. At nighttime, the mist surrounded the whole park. Like a horror movie in the 80’s, I still remembered most Malaysian making silly statement about the foggy night scene before the ghost appears and now being in Central Park in the fog made me realized that its for real. Its only a few years back that its declared safe to be in Central Park of a night. Even on Manhattan streets.

After the brief stroll, we went to a Italian restaurant called Café Caffe. Dinner was nice and we spent around $50 per person. Eating out in USA especially in big cities can be costly. The price of the food is cheap but we have to add up tips to the waiter as well as they are paid poorly on basic rate and depending on how much tip they can get from their diners.

The tips is around 15– 20% off the whole bill. If you gave them less than that most of them will ask you why? Is the service is bad? And believe me… the service is rarely bad… unless you picked the wrong restaurant or a wrong day or the wrong waiter. Than you can say… Yes… Your service was atrocious…and I’m never coming back!

And I’m beginning to be fond of this big city!!
