Yeah... Today we went up to Taste of Melbourne at The Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton. As always Hunnybear bought us the tickets. Taste is different from other food festivals that I've been to...believe me..they are heaps of them. Taste is more upmarket, people dress up, exquisite restaurateur selections like Jacques Reymond, The Stokehouse, Circa, the Prince, The Botanical, The Court House, Grossi Florentino, Longrain, The Press Club, Nobu, Fifteen and Verge are there.
We tram our way to CBD from our apartment, Mark dressed up in white jacket and tight jeans....he can barely sit with his jeans..hehe..it was funny but he insisted
"Maybe I cant walk or sit...but My God I'm Gooorrgeousss!!"
Haha... He did look very good in white, and not many can carry white wardrobe. Peter wore a very nice fluffy scarf and Hunnybear wore a very nice and smart blue Spud shirt ( Peter's design)....
The Royal Exhibition building is very grande. I love the paintings on the roof and how regal the decorations inside the building. Our 1st stop is to get coffees. Mark and Pete decided to have rose from Domaine Chandon. We started with tasting the cheese and chutneys. Moving on to chocolates and other savoury stuff.
Our favourite dish is lamb souvlaki from George Calombaris The Press Club ( he was there...as the photo of course)...We had the Beef Capanade from the CourtHouse was sensational. However I didn't enjoyed the Beef Tataki from Nobu.
Our favourite restaurant, Three One Two also have a booth there. We had Apple Confit with Burnt Caramel Creme. A delish dessert. The Dessert Chef from Press Club served us Frozen EggWhite, Lime and Cream that has been cooked in Liquid Nitrogen... its very strange and left a tingly feeling to your tongue....
after a busy eating and tasting, we adjourned our culinary adventure to Madame Brussels, a very chic bar in Melbourne's Bourke Street. The bar is very simple and kitsch. We sat at the outdoor terrace overlooking Melbourne superb cityscape. The Bar look like Alice In Wonderland...with fake grass and hedges.
The owner of Madame Brussels was there, she is very friendly and chatty, saying hi and goodbye when we left. The bar staff are also very friendly there. Hunnybear didn't bring his sunnies...hehe.. I did the I Told You So dance as we're sitting outside in the winter sun... I borrowed him my Dita...for 5 minutes of course!!! LOL...
What can I say... Fabulous Food, Festive Friends and Fun Times.... Now lets do it again...I Love Melbourne!!!!!
